What an AMAZING first day of school! It went by in the blink of an eye. I was so excited last night that I had a difficult time sleeping. I felt like it was my first day at school too. My first day teaching, my first day teaching in Alaska, my first day teaching students from another culture, my first day teaching middle school, my first day co-teaching... so many firsts today. I wasn't nervous at all, just excited. I was excited because Mike told me that the kids liked me. I guess they would just keep saying my name over and over during his class. LOL! And some of the kids even chose a Yu'pik name for me which was a type of crane. We'll see if that sticks. The students seemed to be excited to be at school and I am so excited to be working on such wonderful teams. My middle school and high school teams seem to have it together. I can't wait for tomorrow. I think that this is going to be an amazing year!
I was fortunate enough to have been invited to one of the student's birthday parties after work. They had a lovely cake for her and quite the array of food. There was moose stew, turkey, chicken legs, jello, cranberry sauce, and noodles with fish. It was all delicious. She was excited because she got a new DSi for her birthday.
Sorry, no new pictures today. I'll upload my new ones of last nights sunset tomorrow. And by the way... we have had the most beautiful weather (knock on wood) since we got here and the salmonberries are ripe! Yum!
