Hello Everyone! Today was a much needed day of rest. A few of us stayed up until 3 a.m. playing UNO so I was able to sleep in and lounge around. We were told to take Sundays off. The Moravian Church is a big influence in the village and they take their Sundays very seriously. I was hoping to make it to church today but wasn't able to get up early enough due to the late night of UNO. LOL! I was able to get in a long walk a few hours of work at the school (shhhh... don't tell), and sloppy joes for dinner :-)
In response to some of the comments I've been left, if you would like more contact info leave a comment and I will find a way to contact you. Also, technology is HUGE here! It is our lifeline to other villages, the district office, our families and friends, and most importantly food, shopping, and other ways to spend money. In addition to receiving a mac book we also get an iPad 2 to use and in the past three years SMARTboards have been installed in every classroom. Most of our students have cell phones and many people in the village have internet access. Technology seems to be important not only for the teachers but to our students and their families as well.
I will post pictures from our walk today and my trip to anchorage tomorrow after school so check back then :-)
