Not too much to write today. It's currently storming... very high winds and lots of rain... even a little thunder. We stayed inside today. A few of us did some P90X at school and then we had an amazing dinner of steak and mashed potatoes... we always seem to eat well on Fridays.
We got through our first week of school! The kids are opening up to me more every day. You are now looking at the assistant varsity girls basketball coach and jv robotics coach as well as an organizer of the high school after school program and student government. I'm very excited to be a part of all of these programs.
I just wanted to put this out there if anyone is willing to help out. Our students do not have many after school programs and do not have the resources that most students in the Lower 48 are given. However, we do try to provide our students with a homecoming dance and a prom dance. If anyone has old dresses or dress clothes for guys or feels like going to the thrift store and picking a few up and mailing them up here (flat rate boxes are wonderful!) it would be appreciated by the staff and students. Our students are incredibly hard working and determined and more than deserve a few nights of fun. There is no movie theater, coffee shop, mall, or anything of the sorts in our village so the school functions as the center of the community. We would like to loan the students the dresses so they can be reused in the following years. Anything would be appreciated :-)
