Ball in Tunt

What better time to update the blog than when I'm stuck in Tuntutuliak with my girl's ball team.  We played 2 games last night.  We won against Quinhagak 69-16 but lost against Tuntutuliak 31-66.  Today we won our game against Kongiganak 58-24.  Depending on whether or not other schools get weathered in we may play some more tonight.  For now we are stuck in the school. 

I was working on this post when one of my students came in and told me to come to the gym.  When I got there it took me awhile to realize what was going on.  The kids had found Tunt's gym closet which, unlike our gym closet, was filled with a plethora of stuff... like ROLLER SKATES!  LOL!  My kids, most of whom have never put on a pair roller skates in their lives were lacing up!  It was great!  I put on a pair, which reminded me of the days at Hilltop when we would get to roller skate for a week during gym class.  We had hulahoops out and rollerboards.  It was a great time.

I also took a group of students to the store... they get very excited when they get to go to the store... and then we went to another store.  They had to stock up on candy and gum. 

We will be playing another game at 8 against Kwigilingok.  The girls are excited.  You would think playing 4 games in 2 days would be exhausting but they are still in good spirits and excited to play again.  I actually think that some of them prefer being weathered in.  They know a lot of the girls from the other teams so they have been having fun.

I think that's it for now.  I haven't been feeling well this afternoon.  I think I may be coming down with something.
